Clear PVC sheets

In general, Clear PVC is a transparent grade of PVC. It is rigid stiff and strong, has good impact strength, low moisture absorption and is inherently flame retardant. As with all PVC, it performs well when exposed to many salt solutions, acids and alkalis. It may be produced by Extrusion or Casting methods which results in differing mechanical properties.  UV resistance of all PVC in general, is considered good; but it will degrade and age in time with prolonged exposure to UV rays which results in white blooming and discolouration. For Clear PVC this may not be desirable as its purpose is to be 'see-through', so for permanent outdoor applications UV stabilisers can be added to PVC, but this generally increases the cost and lead times.

PVC Sheet can be heat formed, hot gas welded and solvent cemented.

General Applications for Clear PVC

• Poster Covers

• Roof lights

• Machinery Guarding and Enclosures.

• Screens and dividers for areas sterilised with caustic soda solutions

• Interior signs and display

Technical Data & Properties

Extruded Clear PVC

The information below is specific to the line of Extruded Clear PVC that we hold in general stock, other types of clear PVC are also available, but we do not hold a general stock and are therefore subject to lead times.

UV Resistance - GOOD

All standard clear PVC is prone to UV degradation and ageing will occur with very prolonged exposure to UV rays.

UV stabilised PVC is also available, but comes with an associated increase in cost and lead time.
